Ink Cartridges

Find an ink cartridge refill or replacement

In the last two decades, it seems as though printers have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives, both at home and at work. Everyone knows what it feels like to run out of ink in the middle of printing an important or time-sensitive job. It's always a good idea to keep an extra supply of printer ink cartridges on hand and to budget for them as part of your printer's ongoing maintenance requirements.

When Your Ink Supply Runs Out

When you shop for a new printer, keep in mind that you will need to buy an ink cartridge refill or replacement when your supply runs out. For many models of printers out there, the inkjet cartridges or toner replacements can be just as expensive as the original cost of the printer, if not more. If the cost of buying replacement toner cartridge is more then you can afford, then consider buying ink refill packs.

Refilling printer ink can be a messy job and ink is toxic, so you want to make sure that you don't get any on your skin or on valuable equipment. Choose a printer that uses minimal or inexpensive ink that comes in an easily replaceable cartridge.

Some printer manufacturers actually provide supporting software that indicates the level of ink left in the cartridge after each usage, but these may not be very accurate. There is no way to know the exact amount of ink left in a cartridge, so this is one of the main reasons why it is important to shop for a printer with an eye to how long one of its ink cartridges will last.

It's also important to find out where to buy the brand of ink required for your printer. Not all office supply stores carry the same brands, and some many not even carry the brand that your printer will need.

Can't Find What You're Looking For?

If you're shopping for black ink cartridges and can't find the one your printer uses in any stores, it's a good idea to search for ink cartridge refills or replacements on the Internet. There are several websites that offer brand names, including Canon ink cartridges, HP ink cartridges, Hewlett Packard ink cartridges and, if you're lucky, cheaper alternatives that will work just fine with your machine.
