Color Copiers

Find the right color copier

As the demand for quick and inexpensive in-house color copying increases, more and more companies are investing in color copiers. Color copiers aren’t that much more complicated than standard black and white copiers. A color copier just mixes four different color toners on a sheet of paper to create a full color image.

Color Copier Specifics

Color copiers differentiate quite a bit from black and white photocopiers when it comes to the supplies they need, which have to be replaced periodically. These supplies are paper, toner, developer and fuser oil.

Color copiers require brighter and heavier paper which will be more expensive than paper used for regular copying. Four toner colors are used with color copiers: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. They are referred to as CMYK (K stands for black). Each toner color needs to be mixed with a separate bottle of developer so that it can be magnetically attracted to a copier drum and then fused onto paper. Lastly, fuser oil is required for the final step of the copying process and doesn’t need to be replaced often. A bottle of fuser oil often lasts twice as long as a bottle of developer.

Find the Right Color Copier

Finding the right color copier means doing some research. Will a conventional color copier meet your reproduction standards or should you consider a color laser copier? Start with familiar brands so you won’t get overwhelmed by all of the choices out there. Look at the wide array of Canon color copiers or Ricoh color copiers on the market and decide which color copier printers are right for your business.

Read product reviews and then make a list of the three best-rated color copiers so you can compare the different features of the machines. Once you have a short list of the top-rated color copiers and have a basic understanding of their different features, you’ll want to compare prices. Instead of looking for the cheapest color copier, try to find a color copier printer that gives you quality you can afford. If you still can’t decide which color copier printer you should buy, go out and try them in person.

Going Digital

You might even dare to venture in digital copier territory. These days, a digital color copier (which uses optical technology to scan and store an image and then print it using either inkjet or laser printing methods) is just as affordable and is even better than a conventional color copier. A digital color copier is better at reproducing finer details, can double as a printer or scanner, makes less noise and often requires fewer repairs.
