Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc. is another popular technological/electronics company that is based in Tokyo, Japan. The Konica Company was founded in 1936 and dealt in the manufacturing, sale and related services of copiers, printers, micro systems, fax machines, cameras and related supplies. The Minolta Company was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1928 and was a manufacturer of cameras, camera accessories, photo-copiers, fax machines and laser printers. Minolta was originally called Nichi-Doku Shashinki Shoten which means Japan-Germany camera shop. The present company was born on August 5, 2003, when Konica merged with Minolta to form Konica Minolta. Konica Minolta also has branches that deal in photo imaging, optical products, management strategies, and the medical field. In early 2006, Konica Minolta announced they were leaving the camera and photo business and would sell a portion of its SLR camera business to Sony.
