Ricoh has been growing in reputation for its line of photographic and office equipment. The company was founded in 1936 in Tokyo, Japan as the Riken Kankoshi Co., Ltd. It started out as a maker of sensitized paper. Two years later its name was changed to Riken Optical Co., Ltd. and they started production of optical devices and equipment until 1963 when the name was changed to Ricoh. In 1950 the company introduced the world's first mass-produced twin-lens reflex camera. Five years later they started producing their first desktop copy machines and in 1973 the company manufactured the world's first fully-digital fax machine. Over the years Ricoh has expanded to various countries around the world and has as developed a global following as a leading manufacturer of copiers, fax machines, computers and other technologically advanced systems.
