Sharp Copiers

From simple pencils to complex copier systems

The Sharp Electronics Corporation is located in Osaka, Japan, and is one of the leading manufacturers of electronic equipment in the world. The company was named after the Ever-Ready Sharp mechanical pencil, which was one of its first inventions. Sharp’s pencil business was destroyed by an earthquake in 1923, and the company relocated and started designing and manufacturing radios. In 1953 Sharp started to make televisions and in1964 they invented the world's first all-transistor desktop calculator followed by the first LCD calculator in 1973. LCD technology is still an important part of the company’s product line and it makes a variety of items including photocopiers, solar panels, audio-visual equipment, LCD panels, projectors, microwave ovens, cash registers, and flash memory.
