Xerox Copiers

The original copier name

Since the Xerox company introduced the first automatic, plain-paper office copier in 1959, Xerox is probably the most famous copier manufacturer in the world. The company began as a manufacturer and seller of photo paper in 1906 in Rochester, N.Y. It was originally known as The Haloid Company; and was renamed the Xerox Corporation in 1961 after the word xerography which comes from the Greek word and means dry writing. The company is currently headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut and deals copiers and fax machines, printing and publishing systems, digital presses, multifunction devices, laser and solid ink network printers. Xerox also offers associated software, support and supplies such as toner, paper and ink. Over the years Xerox has bought and sold many subsidiary businesses and Xerox Financial Services Life Insurance Co. was also formed.
